Cosmin Chivu has been recognized as an outstanding vital force in the theatre world. He has worked as a stage Director in America, Austria, England, Germany, and Romania, and has received multiple awards for his work. After emigrating to the US in 2000, he directed over 30 plays in New York City, California, Massachusetts and New Jersey. In 2004 he was granted with a lifetime membership of the Actors Studio in NYC and a membership of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab. He is the founder of InterArt Theatre Group. In July 2007 Chivu completed a fellowship with Jack O’Brien at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. In 2009 he was a Finalist for the Drama League Directors Project. He has an MFA in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School. Until 1999 he acted and directed for theatres in Europe (including the National Theatre of Bucharest, French Institute, Brouhaha Festival- UK, Mistelbach Festival- Austria). Cosmin Chivu currently teaches theatre courses and workshops at Pace University, New York. In recent years he was a Guest lecturer for Tisch School of the Arts (NYU), Actors Studio Drama School, and Ramapo College (NJ).
