Two people, and then more, are watching a “beast” that lives in a pit. It is later proved that the “beast”, (which is the symbol of violence) represents the pit itself, better said its spirit, who is pleased by the sacrifice of one of its guardians. Driven mad by this unexpected taming (due to the sacrifice), the community gathers around the pit-which is now singing and giving clear, good water- but as a paradox, the men who tries to avoid violence becomes brutal in acts and intentions. The community finally understands the real sense of the both menacing and sweet-sounding existence of this symbolic pit. The play becomes after all, a story of salvation.
