Cosmin Chivu has taught courses and Master Classes in Acting and Directing in US and Europe.

He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre at Pace University, New York City, where he has been teaching acting courses for the past five years. He also taught Master Classes on Improvisation, Directing styles, Performance Studies and European Drama at both the Tisch School  at NYU and at CUNY. He is also involved in developing courses in translating contemporary Eastern European plays for an American audience.

His teaching approach is based on creative strategies for students to grow spiritually and artistically, in a safe, healthy environment, where risk taking and psychological openness are encouraged, reinforced, and rewarded. The foundation of these strategies are Stanislavski’s principles followed by the Method acting developed over the years by Lee Strasberg, Robert Lewis, Sanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and Arthur Penn. His extensive work in Eastern and in Western Europe gave him the opportunity to absorb the Western Continental Shakespearean, Neo-Classical, and Brechtian traditions. He has taught, directed, and performed in over fifty university and professional theatres across Europe and the U.S.

Two of his recent students have booked National Tours. Cailan Rose was in the Broadway company of "Hair" and is currently on the show's National Tour. Brandon Contreras is currently in the National Tour of "In The Heights".
